Going to My First Book Signing
This post’s title might be a little misleading considering I have only been to one book signing. Maybe I have been unlucky since I usually find out about a visiting author after they have already come and gone. I have often wondered how people are notified of author readings and signings. I know that authors often post about it on their websites, but does that mean readers are only notified if they often visit his or her sites? I guess social media is another way. They must post about it, but I only have limited time for personal scrolling through social media, so I often miss them until it’s too…

Seductive Magical Creatures
-Mermaids There are many different myths and fantasy stories that incorporate mermaids and mermen. These creatures are half human and half fish. Though there are many different depictions on how friendly or antagonistic they are, merfolk are known to be very seductive and beautiful. In many of the original myths, merfolk would lure the sailors off course and drown them in the ocean. Even the merfolk that are known to be friendly, or at least not malevolent, are usually still presented as seductive men and women. – Succubus These demonic women’s very essence is to be a seductress. They prey upon men and sleep with them. It is often shown…

Favorite Books Discovered in 2021
1. A Discovery of Witches By: Deborah Harkness I discovered this book series because of the television show that is an adaption of the book series. I definitely recommend it to anyone who loves urban fantasy, vampires, magic, and romance. Harkness has a great writing style that really draws in the reader, and her storytelling is fantastic. If you’re wanting an adventure with a steamy romance and lots of danger, you should check this trilogy out along with its tv show adaption. 2. The Eye of the World By: Robert Jordan I discovered this book thanks to the fans of the Wheel of Time series on the FFF discord. I…

Are You Thinking About Trying an Audiobook?
Recently on the FFF discord, we talked about the difference between reading a book by physically reading it and listening to it through an audiobook. It made me think about how I discovered audiobooks. In fact, when I first thought about giving audiobooks a try, I was very skeptical about how well I would like them. Reading has always been a very immersive entertainment. I did love when my mom read to me as a kid, but would an audiobook really be as good of an experience as reading it for myself or being read to by a loved one? It took me a little ways into my first audiobook…
