Top 5 Fantasy Books of 2022
This is a list of my favorite five books that were released in 2022. I’d love to hear what your favorites were. 1. Legends & Lattes by: Travis Baldree Legends & Lattes was my favorite book from last year. It is truly an amazingly written feel good fantasy story. It is a fun read with great characters and yummy descriptions of food. This book is a one novel story. It is a relaxing enjoyable read. And, if you’re like me, you’ll hope to see all these characters again in a future novel. Plus, the fantasy elements really just fit well with the world Baldree created. Check out my written review…

Top 5 Author’s Writing Styles
1. Jim Butcher I have read Jim Butcher’s writing style in both first person and third person. I find he has mastered the art of storytelling in both points of view. His style has grown and matured over the course of his books. I love how his writing started as good with a fairly simple style that was clear to read and captured the character’s personality. Now, however, his writing has really blossomed into a style that has some complexity to it while still remaining clear and really captures the characters. If you like authors that have a bit of depth and flavor to their writing, I think you’ll love…

Favorite Books Discovered in 2021
1. A Discovery of Witches By: Deborah Harkness I discovered this book series because of the television show that is an adaption of the book series. I definitely recommend it to anyone who loves urban fantasy, vampires, magic, and romance. Harkness has a great writing style that really draws in the reader, and her storytelling is fantastic. If you’re wanting an adventure with a steamy romance and lots of danger, you should check this trilogy out along with its tv show adaption. 2. The Eye of the World By: Robert Jordan I discovered this book thanks to the fans of the Wheel of Time series on the FFF discord. I…

Best Fantasy Books Released in 2021
1. The Forever Sea By Joshua Phillip Johnson This book was my favorite of the year. It is filled with adventure, magic, and pirates. It was written by a new author with this being his first book. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves high fantasy and is looking for an exciting adventure that takes place on a sea of prairie grass. I am anxiously waiting for the next book of this series to be released. If you have read this book, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it as well. If you haven’t, you are welcome to read my review of it for more of my thoughts.…

Top 5 Paranormal Romance Series
#1. Immortal Guardians by Dianne Duvall Vampires are bad. Immortals, who do share a lot of qualities with vampires, are good. They hunt down the evil vampires who kill and murder. Only a select few have the potential to become an immortal instead of a vampire, and this group of immortal men don’t realize just how lonely they are, until they find themselves in front of the women of their dreams. If you like lots of really great romantic men who always treats their women right, this series will give you lots of them. All of books have really tough men who are very protective and romantic (even if some…

Top 5 Urban Fantasy Series
#1. Dresden Files by Jim Butcher Harry Dresden is a wizard who advertises himself as such in the yellow pages of the phone book. He has a private detective agency that specializes in some mundane and some supernatural cases. Sometimes the cops even call him in to consult, even if they don’t really know if he is legit or not. He always seems to find himself in trouble while on the job, and constantly scrounging for rent money. He doesn’t do love potions, endless purses, or parties, but he will save you if you’re in trouble. I love this series for many reasons, but one of the main ones is…

Top 5 High Fantasy Series
#1. Codex Alera by Jim Butcher This series focuses on a boy named Tavi who is very unique in this world. He has no control over any types of furies (elementals of earth, fire, water, air, and metal). Instead, he has to overcome the problems that happen around him without any power, and as he branches out into the world, he discovers where destiny leads him and what his true potential can be. I love this series so much because of how unique it is. I, personally, haven’t read many other novels that incorporate nature manipulation as the main form of magic in the world, and I also like the…

Top 5 Authors
#1: Jim Butcher Series: The Dresden Files, Codex Alera, The Cinder Spires Butcher is a great author with a very diverse style of writing. Each series he writes has such a different style and approach that it seems almost like a different author. He knows the best way to convey his story in his choice of point of view, when to reveal information, building tension, and breath-taking characters. He writes both urban fantasy and high fantasy and has even started a steampunk series, so he has a little of everything. I would definitely recommend this author if you like characters you’ll fall in love with and unique detailed worlds and…
